Bio:

Obum currently leads educational programmes and partnerships at DeepMind, aimed at building a stronger and more inclusive AI community.

Before joining DeepMind, Obum spent 12 years at Google, where he led international educational and skills development programmes in partnership with universities, NGOs and governments. Most recently, he led Google’s computer science and digital skills education programmes in EMEA, focused on developing teamwork, coding, and technical skills that unlock opportunities for students–no matter what their future goals may be.

Obum serves on the board of Computing At School, a community of teachers, IT professionals and parents that provides leadership and strategic guidance to those delivering computing education. He is also a member of the Digital Skills Partnership Computing in Schools Delivery Group established by the UK government to support teachers adapting to the new computing curriculum in England.

In 2019, Obum was featured in FT’s top 10 most influential BAME leaders in the UK tech sector.
